Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to Hamilton Lodge?

Hamilton Lodge Belalp is located at 2,100 metres above sea level in the car-free mountain village of Belalp. To reach Belalp, travel by car or public transport to Blatten bei Naters, where regular gondolas and cable cars connect the village with Belalp in approximately 10 minutes. The Lodge is located directly beside the upper station of the gondola and approximately five minutes on foot from the cable car station.

Gondola and cable car timetables can be found on the Belalp website.

Is there parking available?

Cars are not permitted in Belalp. Guests arriving by car can park in Blatten bei Naters. Both free and paid parking options are available within walking distance of the gondola station. All parking facilities in Blatten bei Naters are managed by the local municipality and Belalp Bahnen. Hamilton Lodge does not operate any parking facilities and is therefore unable to offer reserved parking spaces, parking discounts, or parking validations.

More information is available on the Belalp parking page.

How do I get my luggage to the Lodge?

Guests travelling with smaller luggage may bring one piece of luggage per person on the gondola. Hamilton Lodge is located less than one minute from the upper gondola station.

Guests travelling with larger amounts of luggage are encouraged to use the cable car. Luggage transport can be arranged directly with Belalp Bahnen by purchasing a luggage ticket at the ticket office. Belalp Bahnen will transport your luggage to the mountain station, where our team can collect it and deliver it to the Lodge using our mountain vehicle.

Many guests choose to drop off their luggage first, park their car, and travel up to Belalp while their luggage is transported separately.

Where can I rent skis or snowboards?

Rip Zone ski shop, located a short walk from the Lodge, rents skis, snowboards, boots, helmets and sleds. The shop also sells accessories including goggles, gloves and sun cream.

How should I prepare for the altitude?

Belalp sits at approximately 2,100 metres above sea level. We recommend drinking plenty of water, using high-SPF sun protection and allowing yourself time to acclimatise during your first day in the mountains.

Can you accommodate special diets?

Yes. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, and we are happy to accommodate allergies and dietary requirements whenever possible. Please let us know before your arrival.

Is the Lodge open year-round?

Hamilton Lodge is open during the winter season, from December to April, and the summer season, from June to October. Opening dates vary slightly from year to year, so please consult our booking system or contact us directly for your travel dates.

Can non-Lodge guests access the restaurant and spa?

Yes. Both the restaurant and spa are open to day visitors, subject to availability. Advance reservations are recommended during busy periods.
